The Power of Individuality

A wise man once said, “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.” ISlide gives customers the ability to be themselves through theircustom slides. No longer do customers have to buy slides they like best out of a limited selection. Customers are now able to buy exactly what they want on their slides and wear them proudly. 

Individuality makes people unique and different. What better way to express yourself to the fullest than by wearing your passions, beliefs, and hobbies on your feet. For me, as an incoming intern this summer, I got the opportunity to customize a pair of slides that I would wear each and every day to work.

I chose to put an image of waves on my pair of slides because water has played a big role in my life. I have been swimming since I was 6 years old and am currently swimming for Babson College. Waves is a symbol of all the challenges I had to face and overcome in the sport and in life. On the sides of the slides, I have the words “Make Waves” to symbolize the ability for me to make a difference in someone else’s life, in my community, and in the world. Everybody has the ability: it’s whether or not we make use of our abilities to make a positive impact that matters most. This was my own pair. You have the ability to create your own pair too. 

Here is why I believe individuality is so powerful:

Sets You Apart From Everybody Else

It would be a mistake to try to copy someone else. Being yourself and creating your own personal brand is the best way to find success in life. Individuality allows you to differentiate yourself from your peers. Don’t be afraid to be yourself. People’s differences make the world such a unique place. AKennethMD article states, “Like the stars in the universe that are all unique, we too can all shine in our uniqueness without fear of competition with anyone. There is room for everyone’s uniqueness to shine.”

Allows You to Grow Without Any Hesitation 

If you are too scared to be your own person or afraid that people will judge you for who you are, the opportunity to grow will never come. Only once you allow yourself to open up and dismiss judgement will you be able to evolve as a person and grow from your experiences. 

Happiness

Most importantly, being yourself will bring you happiness in the long-run. Happiness is what many people search for in their lives. I believe happiness is one of the hardest things to find, but it starts within you. When you accept who you are as a person, happiness will come. Too many people try to be like someone else and lose themselves in their own lies and actions. Be an individual. Be yourself. #StandInWhatYouStandFor
